PARISH FINANCE COUNCIL

Every parish is required by the Code of Canon Law and Archdiocesan regulation, to have a Parish Finance Council. Its members are parishioners who have expertise in management or finance.  They are appointed by the pastor and serve with the following tasks:
  • Review and approve any commitment of parish resources in excess of $10,000
  • Review financial operating procedures and keep them in accord with Best Practices.
  • Prepare the annual Parish Budget for submission to the Archdiocese
  • Prepare the annual End of Year Parish report for submission to the archdiocese
  • Communicate the annual End of Year report to the parishioners through the bulletin

Since the Parish Finance Council relates to the administrative responsibilities of the pastor, it is not to be a part of the Parish Council structure.

An appropriate means of communication is developed between the Parish Finance Council and the Parish Pastoral Council, with regular sharing of information between these two councils
